Richard Ayodeji Ikhide, (b. 1991, Lagos, Nigeria) is a London-based artist exploring the convergence of visual references and myths across diverse cultures. His work reflects a realisation of the numerous overlaps and parallels in archetypal ideas, narratives, and imagery found globally. Through extensive research and artistic development, Ikhide aims to reinterpret these ancient archetypes and symbols, blending elements of the past with visions of a potential future. He describes this thematic space as the 'Future-Past', a setting where the figures and characters in his paintings inhabit a realm that merges historical elements with futuristic possibilities.
After receiving a BA in textile design at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts, London (2014), Ikhide completed a Postgraduate Diploma at The Royal Drawing School, London (2017), specialising in watercolours as a primary medium for painting.
