Dana Kara Cavigny (b. 2001) is an artist from Paris. She is currently studying at the ENSAPC (Ecole Nationale Supérieure D'arts de Paris Cergy).
Dana Cavigny’s paintings are odes to fun and the lightness of being. Using pop culture references to title her work, using paint and oil pastel, she depicts festive Black female figures to celebrate the joy of living and dismantle stereotypes of violence:“Painted from pictures taken at parties, I aim to question stereotypes and misrepresentations of black women as angry, hyper- sexual and violent. So I depict black women who are having fun, enjoying themselves freely, without the weight of misconceptions.”
