Agnes Waruguru’s (b. 1994, Nairobi, Kenya) work spans painting, drawing, printmaking, needlework, and installation. She focuses on the materiality of objects in space, exploring themes of personal identity, women's practices, and traditional cultural identifiers. Her often abstract works blend memory and place, drawing from personal experiences to create landscapes of memory and emotion. Waruguru's art invites slow reflection, imagination, and exploration, resembling visual poetry.
Waruguru received her BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2017. In 2020, Waruguru participated in the inaugural edition of the Stellenbosch Triennale, South Africa, and held her first solo exhibition, Small Things to Consider, at Circle Art Gallery, Nairobi. Waruguru’s work is currently on show at Foreigners Everywhere, the 60th International Art exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia curated by Adriano Pedrosa.
