Kusheda Mensah (b. 1991) is a British born Ghanaian designer, based in London. Her love for furniture design and wide-ranging lifestyle pieces began whilst embarking on a bachelor’s degree in print design at the London College of Communication.
At the heart of her practice lies the pursuit of creating an ideal, functional, and enjoyable living environment. Mensah's project 'mutual' was motivated by the increasing social disconnect amplified by social media. Her artistic response manifests in interlocking modular furniture pieces that symbolise and promote mutual understanding, connection, and human closeness. Her line, Modular by Mensah, seeks to unite people with furniture, fostering better social behaviours and meaningful interpersonal interactions.
Mensah showcased her work at the 21st edition of SaloneSatellite, held in Milan. During that time she also worked on commercial projects with Adidas at their Flagship store in the UK, The Office Group, a coworking space in Shoreditch, and featured in shows around the UK curated by Ronan Mckenzie to name a few. In 2020 she received a grant from Samuel Ross and Daniel Arsham; she is a semi finalist of the Hublot Prize 2023. Mensah’s work is currently showing in Create/Elevate, on at Harewood House 28 June - 20 October 2024.
